Most people think of the domestic arts as safe, tame, a little boring. They don't really get the level of suspense that is involved in taking on a new project.
Case in point, making a new kind of cookie. Granted, the suspense here is of the one hour or so variety. By the way, allow me to take the suspense out of your cookie experience and highly recommend the cookies in process above. They're based on a cookie from The Babbo Cookbook, and they can be found on epicurious, here. They are an instant hit with Operations Man. It's true that almost anything chocolate goes down well with him, but I've tried them, and they are good.
For real suspense, the kind that lingers for weeks, try a sweater with a brand new shape. Try this one, Drops 129-3, found here. In my de-stashing efforts, I chose this one, not without trepidation, since I had the necessary amount of Lin, a linen sport weight from Drops that I feared would never become anything.
Actually, I'm still scared, scared that whatever this turns out to be will not be something that I want to wear. This is the kind of suspense I'm talking about, everyday suspense for the intrepid knitter who goes out on a limb every time she commits to a new project. In other words, every knitter.
Knitting. It's not for the faint-of-heart.
