It's now been a little over two years since I started knitting again. While knitting in my twenties, I got proficient enough that I started to quasi-design my own garments by tweaking patterns heavily to work better for me.
This time around, I've been rather slavishly knitting other people's patterns. There are so many great things out there that it hasn't seemed necessary to make anything up. There are definite advantages to benefiting from someone else's trial and error. It's very relaxing to simply follow a great pattern, and much faster than making it up as you go.
Still the sweaters are piling up at a pace that means that if I don't make my knitting life more complicated, I will be smothered by them before long. So it is time once again to work without a net.
The picture above is a preview of something I've got in progress. I'm thinking if all goes well that it'll be ready in a couple of weeks.
Of course, if all goes well is the wild card here. First mishap? Dog, frustrated by re-entry into a post-vacation world (who isn't?) where she can no longer run outside and chase deer, chews needles into bamboo splinters. Time out for dog, and time out for me, as I now must get replacement needles.
Why can't she just bark at us if she's crabby? It works for me........
