America is waiting with bated breathe today. History is being made.
A few days ago, I realized that my blogiversary falls on Election Day. I've been thinking for a while now that I would award a prize to someone to celebrate one year of blogging, but the exact idea came together this weekend. There will be a prize, but there will also be a vote.
This year I've knit (and blogged) a lot. More than I care to think about. I have a lot to show for it, and to prove it, I'm going to ask you to click on the "Finished Objects" link to the right. Take a look at what I've made, then cast your vote for your favorite thing by leaving me a comment telling me which you like best. There will be a fair amount of work involved if you play fair, since there are about twenty things to look at. Just remember that it took me far, far, longer to knit them. And that I'm not sending you in a treasure hunt through the 166 posts I've written to find some obscure fact. I considered it. Briefly.
The prize will be enough Seduce yarn in lovely basic black, to make "Flow". You can check out the most famous example of "Flow" here, at the Yarn Harlot's site. It's only fitting to honor one of my favorite knitting bloggers on this day. So somehow it all comes together nicely, I think.
Since I'm in casual blogger mode this month (hard to tell, I know, since I keep on blogging in spite of my intention to take it easy), I'm going to run this contest for two weeks, until November 18th. I may stop in before then, and I may not. I hope that you do stop in, stay a while, and decide that you'd like to come back. I'll choose a winner using the ubiquitous random number generator if I can figure out where to find one, and if not, I'll simply pull a name out of a hat (Operations Man has volunteered the one I knit for him).
Thanks to everyone who has visited on a regular basis this year--it's been great fun. I had no idea what I was doing when I started out, and to my great surprise, making these posts, hearing from you, reading your blogs and responding to them has become a very enjoyable part of my life.
(And in case you are wondering, I am hoping to be dancing in the streets Tuesday night. That's all I'll say about that.)
Its not just America waiting for the election results. Here is Australia the campaign has been on our news each day, not that I understand how insanely confusing it is, and that their was an election just to have the candidates etc etc but we are all nervy, and we are all anxious. Hopefully the right decision is made. I am contemplating staying up all night just to watch the late night coverage. (It will be 10pm our time before your voting starts)
Other than that I cant pick a fave of your projects...I love them all and because I live allll the way over here in Aus no need to enter me in the competition.
xoxo Robyn

I don't want to win because I'm miles away in the UK and God knows how much the postage would be but you've made some great projects this year. The pink cabled gloves are stunning but I think my favourites are the little gems gloves with all the colours. You've done so much amazing work it is hard to choose. I'm inspired to maybe have a summer of gloves myself next year. Looking forward to the next year to come!

Another one in the don't put my name in the hat camp. You know you can't get off that easy with me, I'm holding out for the aran sweater you'll knit me. (Bats eyelashes prettily).
My vote is for the Alpine Lace Shawl. It's not only lovely, but I've pet it and I know how nice it feels as well.
Hard to believe it's just been a year for both of us in our new fiber additions. It does make the thought of another long cold winter easier to swallow when you wake up in the morning and think about which sweater (shawl, scarf, gloves) you'll wear today.

I just found your blog through Ravelry and all your projects are gorgeous. Though I particularly like The Trellis Shawl. I looks so warm and comfy! Lovely blog will be back to see more of your great work!

This is hard!
So I'm breaking it into categories!
Scarf: alpine lace
Sweater: Ruffled Cardigan
Gloves/Mittens: Engtangled Stitches
I loved looking at all your finished objects and your photography/stylizing is amazing!
Happy Blogiversary!

Don't enter me into the contest, but my fave is the entagled stitch gloves. I think they are amazing! All your FOs are lovely but those really stand out.

Happy Blogiversary! I'm going to come back when I've got more time (and I'm not at work ;) to vote on your FOs. In the meantime I am keeping everything crossed for that other vote going on in your country today.

I too love the Trellis shawl. It's so cozy looking, and yet, still beautiful. The idea of a stole with sleeves is so practical, too! And so many lovely gloves! I just don't know where to start...

Happy Anniversary! My favorite of all the finished projects (let's add that it was hard to choose one since you have done many many great projekts) are the Little Gems mitts from Interweave. I love your idea of making gloves.

I looked at all your projects just to be sure, but yes, I love your Trellis Shawl the most. I wish I had one!
I feel like dancing in the streets too. It's weird for me to feel this way about an election. I think I like it.

Happy blog anniversary! Those pink twisted stitch/cabled gloves you finished recently are just spectacular! I don't have the patience for really intricate cables or gloves, so I'm very impressed that you combined them!

Well I'm going for Myrtle. She has provided us with beauty and laughs throughout the year. And she is a serious knit!

I *love* the gloves labeled "Cozy". So pretty!
(I found you via Rav, if you're curious how people get to your blog).

Happy Blogiversary! Wow! You've made a LOT of wonderful things! The alpine lace shawl is gorgeous and I LOVE the Entangled Stitches glove! But I think my favorite is the cabled sampler baby blanket. I know the amount of love that goes into such a thing and it came out beautifully!

I have loved all of the gloves you have knit, and boy did you knit a lot - that is so impressive! But one of my favorite knits of yours is the Alpine Lace Shawl - I loved the pictures of it with the beautiful magnolia tree too :-)
Happy Bloggiversary! And long may you continue to blog and share your lovely knits.

Congrats on one year!! And, Wow, that's a lot of hand coverings you knit :) I think my favorite of your FOs would be a tie between Thermal & the Blue Baby Blanket!!

My vote's for the alpine lace also. While some of the other's were close runner ups, that is the one that caught me.

Congrats on your blogiversary! It was tough, but I have to go with Natalya because I rushed to download the pattern as soon as I read it was on Ravelry. :-) Baby Blue was a very, very close second.
(By the way, I like this random number generator: http://www.random.org/integers/. It's the one I'll be using!)

I have to say that I think I like the little gem mitts the best. They are way cute! Congrats on your blogiversary!

I quite like your Thermal (http://theknittyvritti.typepad.com/theknittyvritti/2008/03/thermals-debut.html). It seems like every time I see that sweater finished I want to make it a little bit more- maybe soon we'll hit lust critical mass and I'll get to it.

Wow, there were quite a few that I really liked, but Myrtle was my favorite - and I agree that it looks more girlish than old-ladish :) Think it would look as nice in black?
2nd and 3rd would be little gems gloves and engtangled - the color is lovely.
Happy blogiversary!

Congrats on your anniversary! My vote is the ruffled cardigan.....love it!

Harry wants your Myrtle Lace shawl. He says he deserves it because it's exquisite and delicate and so is he.
If you can't send him that shawl, he'll take some Malabrigo lace, some Godiva truffles, and a Deathday CD.
Sigh.

the pink entangled cable gloves are still my favorite! my second fav is the thermal sweater.
